HMI P/M superalloys meet the stringent requirements demanded by the aerospace industry. In our structural solutions, each powder particle is a micro ingot containing all the constituents of the alloy. This inhibits segregation of constituents at high temperatures - a problem found in cast and wrought products. P/M results in finer grains for improved forging, producing parts that are super-reliable and that operate for thousands of cycles.
HMI powder goes into the coatings and disks in the liquid oxygen fuel pumps on the NASA Space Shuttle. Our products are also used in Pratt & Whitney military and commercial aircraft engines, including:
