HMI Receives NYS Environmental Excellence Award Homogeneous Metals receives NYS Environmental Excellence – HMI was one of six winners of this prestigious award. The project was selected for its’ significant reduction to hazardous waste generation and air emissions. HMI presented the mop water evaporator project that has put HMI 90-99% below its allowable limits for nickel and chromium to the municipal sewer and for significant reduction to hazardous waste generation and air emissions. An Award ceremony took place at HMI in January 2006 where NYS DEC, NYS and Oneida County representatives and guests from Pratt & Whitney, East Hartford joined all employees for the award presentation and lunch. |

HMI celebrates 40th Anniversary – 1965 – 2005 A celebration at Twin Ponds Golf & County Club in New York Mills in early June was attended by retirees, significant past employees and Mr. Joseph Wentzell, HMI’s founder, who with his wife, traveled from Florida for the event. Homogeneous Metals had five “Best Practices” published in OSHA’s 2005 Voluntary Protection Programs Participants’ Association (VPPPA) Best Practices Directory. This is information that is gathered from information contained in VPP evaluation reports. The directory is intended to assist facilities throughout the country as they improve their safety and health programs. The five “Best Practices” listed for HMI were:

2005 Customer Open House & Exposition This event was held in June with the theme “ Back to Basics”. Retired 4-star General William Begert (now VP of Military International Program and Business Development for Pratt & Whitney) was the keynote speaker. The second presenter was Tim Connors from Blasch Precision Ceramics, an HMI supplier. |
