HMI raised $19,578 in 2007. UTC’s corporate matching funds is $ 1,935.00.
A total of $22,188 that benefits local organizations in our community.

This year’s company campaign included ballons filled with $$’s and prizes (with most of the $$ prizes donated back to United Way by employees!) and a “breakfast with the Boss” (cost of the breakfast was donated to United Way) served to employees by HMI’s management team.

HMI’s annual Wellness Day welcomes employees to “a health fair” comprised of health representatives and local vendors, answering employees questions about health and safety.

 

   
Golf Tournament
Crusaders for Cancer Golf Tournament

Crusaders for Cancer Golf Tournament
The idea was initiated in 2002 by employees with the first tournament raising approximately $7,000 with 40 golfers.  The event is usually held in July and in 2007, with 124 golfers; this event raised approximately $18,000 to benefit the American Cancer Society.

An HMI Team of 15 – Employees, family and friends, participated in the American Heart Association’s “America’s Greatest Heart Run and Walk on March 3, 2007. The Team raised nearly $1,300 in pledges for the American Heart Association.

Bring Your Child To Work Day
HMI employees and families participate in Take Your Child To Work Day activities. Employees have a chance to share with their families, the role they play in HMI’s rich history of supporting the aerospace industry. The half day activities may include a factory tour and suiting up for a visit into our clean room, a presentation on safety in the home or learning about rare animals and their habitats. Refreshments with their families close out the day.

Utica College Science Fair

The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), the world’s largest international pre-college science competition, annually provides a forum for high school students from over 40 countries to showcase their independent research. The ISEF is the premier science competition in the world, exclusively for students in grades 9-12. Yearly, millions of students compete worldwide in local science fairs; the winners of these events go on to participate in ISEF-affiliated regional and state fairs from which the best win the opportunity to attend the ISEF and compete for nearly $4 million in prizes and scholarships. The Intel ISEF 2008 presented by Agilent Technologies will be held in May 2008 in Atlanta, GA. www.societyforscience.org/isef/

HMI has been the prime local sponsor of the Utica College Regional Science Fair, usually held in March. This fair stimulates the active interest in science and engineering in the community and provides an education experience as well as giving public recognition to talented local students. This is a judged fair and HMI engineers serve as volunteer judges.

The Children’s Museum Science Fair
This museum, located in Utica, promotes a judged science fair each year in the early Spring that is open to students in grades 2nd through 6th. HMI has participated as one of the sponsors, with an interactive display and, handouts. Employees volunteer to set up the booth, judge the entries and answer questions about Pratt & Whitney and HMI. In March 2007, 19 projects were entered by 29 students.
